  1. Maintenance

Unlike 100% synthetic pillows, feathers need to breathe.

  • Fluff it every morning:This restores the loft of the feathers and prevents the microfiber from clumping.
  • Air out for 10 minutes:Open the window, even in winter. This removes body moisture accumulated overnight, which is crucial to avoid "old duck" smells.

2. Machine washing

Wash your pillow 1 to 2 times a yearmaximum.

  • Check:Make sure there are no small holes in the percale casing. Feathers leaking into the drum would be a disaster for your machine.
  • Temperature:Opt for a 40°Ccycle (maximum 60°C if heavily stained, but 40°C preserves the microfiber better).
  • Detergent:Use a liquid detergent(powder leaves white marks on percale). Absolutely avoid fabric softener, which causes feathers to stick together.
  • Pro tip:Place two tennis balls(or laundry balls) in the drum. They will beat the pillow during the cycle to prevent feathers from forming compact clumps.

3. Spinning: crucial!

This is where it all comes down to. Too weak a spin will leave the pillow waterlogged, causing the feathers to mildew.

  • Set an intensive spin cycle(1000 to 1200 rpm).
  • Don't worry about the percale, it's very durable. You need to extract as much water as possible before drying.

4. Drying: golden patience!

A tumble dryer is almost mandatoryfor this type of pillow. Air drying is too slow and risks creating persistent damp odors.

Additional tips:
  1. Use a pillowcase
    To protect your fiber pillow from stains, allergens, and dust accumulation, use a clean pillowcase. Choose a cotton or breathable fabric pillowcase and wash it regularly.
  2. Regular aeration
    From time to time, take the fiber pillow out of its cover and air it out. Shake it to redistribute the fibers, this will help maintain its shape and ensure its support.
  3. Replacement
    Despite proper care, fiber pillows have a limited lifespan. If your pillow starts to flatten, lose its shape, or become uncomfortable, it's time to replace it.
